As we begin working with a new group of students this week, I know each of us have hopes and prayers on the positive impact we want to make. In July, I read this post on Facebook from Dr. Brad Johnson, educational speaker, and it's stuck with me. May you enjoy his words as much as I did and that each of you know and believe in the lifelong impact you will make this year...

A little flashback from our first week together. It was a great week and can't wait to kick-off this year with all of you! (And I didn't take enough pictures! If you did, please add them to our building folder.)

Weekly News Show:
Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day and/or communicate to Autumn before the day of announcement.
WIS shared picture folder: PLEASE add your pictures throughout the year to our folder. This is used for our yearbook and social media posts to tell our story!
Nuts and Bolts Items:
-Classroom teachers-Please be sure to have these items for your students:
Lunch PIN - Students will want to come to lunch with their PIN number. It will be the same as last year. If you need help running this from Infinite Campus, please check with a teammate or let us know in the office.
Dismissal plans - You will want to know how your students will get home day one and then normally. If there are any questions re: bus number, etc., please let the office know ASAP so that we may help clarify before the end of the day. You may email Kelly and Karen both.
-Items to complete if you haven't:
Staff Survey - Please complete the survey if you haven't. We would like to get this from ALL staff and are still missing a few!
Vector Training Videos - They have asked that these be completed by the start of school. Don't delay as things will get busy!
-Specials Rosters for 6th Grade: This is the link to the rosters for 6th grade specials that begins on Tuesday. Classes should meet in the commons and will then line up with the specials teacher they have that day. Then, classroom teachers will pick them up at the end of specials in the commons also. Please let Stacey know there is a name we’re missing on the list. We will make sure to update it with any additions/changes.
-Lunch procedures:
Lunch count is done each day on this form by 9 am, along with attendance.
Lunch menu can be found here and Paula Parker will usually email out any changes for the day. Adults purchasing lunch will use this same form too. It is also on the Dashboard under “Daily/Weekly”.
Lunch seating sections: 5th grade and 6th grade. Please assist your students the first couple of days with seating as we get it all figured out. At this time, breakfast will be open seating in the designated area filling up seats closest to the kitchen first.
-Arrival/dismissal - Especially the first couple of days, we would like all hands-on deck to welcome our students and also help with dismissal procedures at the end of the day. Non-classroom teachers-we’ll want people out front, buses, assisting with finding classrooms and breakfast. Let’s pump them up!
-Recess: Here are the zones and expectations our specials teachers will be sharing Monday morning with students. Both documents can also be found on the dashboard. Also, here is the weather protocols for going outside. We'll keep an eye out this week as there is a heat advisory to start the week. Please encourage students to bring a water bottle each day.

-Student Allergies - As a reminder, we have several student allergies in our building. Please use caution and be aware for your classes. We should refrain from using essential oils, air fresheners, Febreeze, Axe, etc. as these can be triggers for some people, especially asthmatics.
-Bathroom sign out sheets - This would be used if a student has an emergency need to use the restroom outside of class breaks, but should be limited.
-Action teams: All new staff to WIS should be thinking this week which action team they would like to serve on (Academics, Leadership or Culture). Please email Stacey your choice by the end of the week as our first meeting will be next Monday's early out. If you've got questions, any Lighthouse member would be happy to talk more with you to help.
-Spirit Wear Store: Orders must be in by midnight on Aug. 29 if you'd like to purchase any additional Willard wear or our school theme shirts.
-WOHE Lighthouse Celebration: We hope to have more details about their celebration soon, but you can plan to follow an Assembly day schedule next Friday, Aug. 29. It is our plan to have our students who went to WOHE attend this afternoon celebration, so there will likely be some of us that will walk with them to assist.
-Clubs: If you have a club starting soon, please get the club proposal form to Stacey in order to be approved and added to the school calendar.
