So incredibly in awe and thankful for our team. You all put in the work to help get our year kicked off successfully. THANK YOU! I hope you were able to get some rest and ready to go for week 2. There's a 3-day weekend waiting for us at the end! :)

WIS shared picture folder: PLEASE add your 1st week pictures here for us and continue to add throughout the year to our building folder. This is used for our yearbook and social media posts to tell our story!

It was a GREAT first week!

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-WOHE Lighthouse Celebration assembly details:

  • Staff: Please complete this form to indicate your interest in attending and help us plan for Friday’s assembly.

  • Assembly on Friday will begin at 2:30 pm with the goal of ending by 3:00 pm so there is time to walk back for dismissal.

  • Classroom teachers: We would like to give past WOHE students the opportunity to attend. Please complete this document for us by the end of day Monday if possible. Once we have the student numbers, we’ll work on getting a list of who will walk to WOHE with them and who will stay back with the rest of our students.

  • We will plan to run an Assembly Day Schedule, but know this will cut into a little time at the end of day. Students will need to leave at 2:15 to attend if you need to make time adjustments on your team.

  • Further assembly details will be shared with those attending Friday afternoon as soon as groups are made.

-Action teams: We will meet after school today for action teams. We've almost got everyone with a team. Please let Stacey know if you haven't yet.

-A HUGE Celebration - Our attendance is in and we had 87% of our families attend for Meet the Teacher Night!!! So cool!

-Clubs: If you have a club starting soon, please get info to Stacey. We're getting ready to share out the Club Info brochure to families beginning with Thurs. 6th team night and putting them on announcements. Some plan to start next week! We can always add, but we're wanting to share the initial list by Thursday.

-Teal team will have a couple cards in the teachers’ lounge to sign for McKenzie Newport if you could sign them by lunch on Tuesday. Other items can be brought to the main office.

-We will also have a THANK YOU card for Orchard Crest Baptist Church in the lounge. They brought us bags of cookies and then the meat/cheese, veggie and fruit trays for Meet the Teacher Night.

-Team meetings: We’ll be coming to your team meeting this week to set up NWEA classes for testing and check-in on any needs you may have.

-Homecoming theme - This year’s theme will be Surfside Showdown - Hawaiian theme. Mark your calendars for a float build day after school on Thursday, Oct. 2. If you are interested in helping, let Gracie know!

-Student Incentives: (*We’ll talk more about this at our Mon. early out meeting!)

  • Staff will receive a roll of dinosaur stickers this week for our positive behavior system. Grid paper for their stickers was put in classroom teacher mailboxes last week. These should go in the student’s leadership portfolio.

  • Individuals will be able to contribute to a TEAM ROAR board when they receive 10 stickers. When the TEAM ROAR board is filled, the team will earn a reward.

  • Class boards will now result in a class reward of teacher choice.

  • See more details here and we’ll talk about it further at our early out meeting today.

Teaching Tidbits:

Here's a quick article about the importance of the work you are doing right now to establish relationships, expectations, routines & procedures. This time will help set the tone for the rest of the year's success. Great reminders!
