Video Announcements -- **Make sure to share the announcements with your students!**

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Winter Concert Sign-Up: We still need volunteers to help out and our festivities are quickly approaching. Please see where you are able to lend a hand! We want Thursday evening to be a special one.

-Book Fair this week (Please refer to David’s email as he will be figuring out what works best this first time around. This is a big job and your help is greatly appreciated in monitoring and encouraging students to shop.)

-Spirit Wear: We are doing a reorder this week for our school shirts for the community in conjunction with our Winter Concert/Holiday Fun night. As a gift for YOU, we would like to purchase a short-sleeve shirt for all staff with this order. Please let us know which you'd like here.

-Heads up: IE hours updated on your log for 1st semester will be due Wed., Dec. 18.

-Mark your calendar: Tiger Tones will be doing a Winter Tour on Dec. 19 from 9:30 am-2:15 pm. Please be aware this will mean several students will be out this day.

-Class/Team Holiday party – Dec. 20 early out day. This is not normally a homeroom sponsored party, so we will leave the planning to teams. If you are planning food and would like to reserve a 30 min. time slot in the commons, please let Rhonda or Stacey know to get it added to the calendar.

Leader in Me Moment:

Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood is the habit of listening to other people’s ideas and feelings. It’s trying to see things from their viewpoints. I listen to others without interrupting. It’s about being confident in voicing your ideas. It’s about looking people in the eyes when speaking. Habit 5 is a timeless principle we all strive to teach our kids; it teaches them to be confident when speaking to others while also teaching them the importance of listening to others when they are speaking.

Habit 5 is about communication. The best way to teach someone how to communicate is by practicing it with them.

How can you model effective communication in your classroom this week?
