WIS News:
Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.
Welcome our New Staff:
We’ll have a couple of new faces at WIS when we return in January. Please welcome…
Courtnee Hallman - Courtnee was born and raised in Willard. She and her husband Mike have 2 kids, Michael in 6th grade at WIS-North and Makaylee a freshman. In her free time she likes to play basketball, ride four wheelers and spend time with her family. She’s extremely excited to be part of the Willard team!
Brittany Davis - Brittany is from Illinois, but went to school at SBU where she graduated in 2019 with her teaching degree and minor in theatre. Upon graduation, she went to work at Disney for a few months until their closure due to COVID. Since then she has been working as a school-age teacher at Our Redeemer Daycare in Illinois. Brittany is moving back to the area over Christmas break and will be getting married in May. She’s very excited to join us and put her love of teaching and the arts into practice as an ELA/SS teacher on Maroon team!
Nuts and Bolts Items:
-Late Start Schedule - In the event we do a late start due to inclement weather, this schedule will be followed. It has also been added to the Dashboard. Please take a look at it for your team and let Stacey know if you see any problems. Thanks!
-Launch - If you have been notified a student in your class is moving to Launch for 2nd semester, please make sure they take their Chromebook home with them at break.
-We do have several students starting with us in January. Rhonda Drake is currently working to notify all homeroom teachers if we are aware of a new student in your class. Please reach out to them to welcome them to your team!
-Club Proposal - If you would like to offer a safe and socially distanced club for 2nd semester, don’t forget to complete this proposal first for approval and to get it on the calendar.
-Instructional Excellence - This will be submitted to district office today. Please let Stacey know if you have anything else left to add for this semester and haven’t done so yet.
-DGH hours - If you haven’t updated this, please do so ASAP if you want payment in January.
-6th band - More information coming soon! We’ll likely have a team informational assembly with students (classes spread out) in the first few weeks of January. The current goal is to start band as an after school club in February.
Adult Learning Weekly Blog Spot:
I hope you all enjoyed our Self Care focus this month! Seems like everyone prefers self care that comes to them on a fancy cart with snacks and drinks! We will draw the winner of the self care gift on Tuesday before we leave for break. We didn't have a whole lot of participants in the before or after school mindful moments, but I hope that over this break, you are able to make some mindful connections to what is important to you. My fancy mindfulness/yoga cards are separated into the categories of Breath, Move, Connect, Relax, and Focus. Ask yourself what your body needs most and find a way to make it happen. You will be amazed at what a difference it makes! My resource this week is just a list of self care ideas for teachers. Check out this blog post for ideas. OH... and consider using one of those facial coupons that we have available! AHHHHmazing!
With your accountability partner this week, check in on your goals, but take some time to talk about how you will Sharpen the Saw over this break. I think we can all agree that we are very ready for some down time!
Teaching Takeaway:
It's been uncharted waters, but we've done it. A full semester of seated classes during a pandemic! If there has ever been a time to give ourselves grace, now is it. Especially coming off of a year opening a new building. It is my sincere hope you have a restful, relaxing, family-filled, safe holiday break! Thanks to Brian for sharing the following video. It's a little long, but a great one to fill our buckets at this time.
