Nuts and Bolts Items:

-We’ve got some “Happy New Year” photo props in the commons by the buoy stools if you’re team would like to take some fun pictures – teachers and/or students! Be sure to tweet them out too. 😊

-Team leader meeting: There is a need to get this going for 2nd semester as we've got a few agenda items. Our first meeting will be next Thurs., Jan. 16 at 7:30 am in meeting room #1. This was the most popular time given from our survey in Oct. Please let me know who will be your team leader. We'll also need a representative from specials and special services to attend.

-Teachers: There are still a few of you I didn't get to visit 1-1 with in December. Please reach out to me with a couple times that would work and let's get it scheduled so we can check in. Thanks!

-You may notice some new faces around WIS-South this semester. Please welcome:

  • Courtney Doss – Student teacher from Baptist Bible College that will be working with Mrs. Hutcheson and Mrs. Mize on green team.

  • Stephanie Austin – Student teacher from Drury University that will be working with Mrs. Muller and Mr. Steinbach on navy team.

  • We have partnered with Missouri State University’s Khebrat School Immersion program. We are still learning the details of what this will look like, but David Stockton will be our building mentor leading this group of likely 5 teacher-leaders from Saudi Arabia. All of the teachers have at least 5 years of classroom experience and are here to observe and learn from us! We are very excited to be a part of this program as we know staff and students alike can learn a lot from them too. David and I have a meeting tomorrow to gain further details and the teachers should start with us on Jan. 14. He will likely be reaching out to many of you about opportunities to partner with them.

Teacher Tips/Ideas:

It's an important time to review expectations and procedures. This blog post has a few fun ideas of how you can get students involved in doing this!

For quick ideas all year long to use with your students be sure to save the "We Are Teachers" yearly calendar. January is full of quick brain breaks we're sure to need! ;)
