Nuts and Bolts Items:
-District office is closely monitoring the current weather and will communicate any closures or changes to the schedule if any decisions are made in the days ahead. A couple documents to have handy in the event we need to use them:
Weather Late Start Schedule: This is our new late start schedule. If used, all staff would report by 9 am and students arrive approximately 3 hours late. This document is also located on the Dashboard under "Schedules" at the bottom.
AMI Days: This link is to the teacher/student expectations and attendance spreadsheet. As a reminder, please make sure to share AMI information in your Jan. team newsletter, including a link to the digital AMI packet for your grade level.
-Jan. team newsletter: Don't forget to share your team's newsletter with Autumn, Wendy and Stacey. Thank you!
Teaching Tips & Tidbits:
Just as the first week back after a long break can be tough for us, it is for our students too! It seems they often return forgetting how we do things like it's not just 2025, but a brand new school year. ;) It's important to take our return slow, review expectations, share and connect. Here is "7 Tips to Get Back Into School Mode After Winter Break" that are helpful to remember. Don't forget to pour on the positive (and stickers) when you see them doing it right! This feedback is powerful when we focus on the positive we want to see.
Also, here is a fun idea to use as you reflect on goals, routines, procedures and expectations with students. Jump on the trend of what is "In" and "Out" by creating a class list of things that are "In" for second semester and we want to focus on more of. While the "Out" list are those habits that we need to leave behind to create the classroom/school we want! You can also have them do it independently as they reflect and set their own goals for this semester. Check out how this teacher, Kelly Having (@havingagoodyear on Tik Tok), has used the In/Out trend in her classroom to start the new year for ideas or check out her fun bingo goal setting idea too!
