Weekly News Show:

Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Playground Update: The surface is poured and ready for use! Yay!!! A work order has been submitted for maintenance to take down the fencing and lower the swings. It’s my hope this will happen Monday morning and can be used as soon as this happens! Please go over expectations to use safely and respectfully with your team before use. You can also refer to our ROAR expectations outside as you do this. It is a great reminder of general expectations!

-Team meetings: Shawnda or I will pop-in briefly to see if you need anything from us. If you haven’t already, please be sure to review our last 3rd qtr. reading scores as a team and update your data folders so our 4th quarter focus continues to be intentional to reach our building goal.

-New Phone Extension - Our custodians now have a phone and can be reached at ext. 2215.

-Spring Conferences: This is an exciting week as we welcome parents into the building for the first time since our Open Building Night to celebrate student learning. Please continue to encourage your students and parents to attend as this is an important way to celebrate, gain support and build community in our building and strive for 100% participation.

-Spring Conference end of week results: Complete your conference totals and individual hours work log by April 2.

-Please let Stacey Maddeaux know if you have been recognized as a 5 star this semester.

-Heads up: We may have a spring fundraiser beginning next week in order to raise funds for our end-of-the-year celebrations (ie. field day, etc.) and outdoor seating for our playground and classroom areas. More info TBA.

-Please be sure not to throw food items down the sinks, specifically those between our team pods or leave dishes, etc. in them. We have had some problems with this and caused clogging issues. Thank you for your help!

-Reminders to communicate to students/parents this week: (1) We do not have working water fountains, so it's important for students to bring a water bottle to school, especially as temperatures get warmer. Water ONLY may be brought in classrooms. (2) Students should bring and wear a mask every day. We've seen an increase in masks being given out - 23 one day last week! (3) Jeans-Please make an announcement to students re: dress code states no holes above the knees. Might be a good time to review length of shorts also.

-Staffing updates: Please see this document for the most recent updates to the WIS staff for 2021-22 school year.

-After school detention: If you are interested in assisting with a student or two who may be assigned after school detention until 4:30 pm, please let Stacey know. This time can be compensated with IE hours and day of the week is flexible.

-COVID precautions - Please be sure you are frequently sanitizing between classes and using the wipes primarily. Also, keep your seating charts for class, lunch and specials updated.

Adult Learning Weekly Blog Spot from Mrs. Maddeaux:

This week, we will start with our first Hidden Talents post! Did you know Bailey Bryant was a State Champion Barrel Racer? Check out those awesome action shots! Please continue to submit ideas for yourself, or others, via this form. Remember, it can be something someone does really well in the classroom, or just something cool that they do... like Barrel Racing!

Technology Tips for Teachers:

Have students that can’t find a book to read? Did you know that Mr. Stockton has created a library page with all the student book trailers created this school year? This is a win-win for our students to get book recommendations from each other. Feel free to share it on your sites and with students! We’ve got a lot of great talent at WIS.
