Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.

Nuts and Bolts Items: (*We've got several things this week, so read carefully!)

-Building Wish List - I've spoke to a couple people recently who mentioned items they wish we had in our building. For example, someone asked about getting a large bulletin board in the learning park. Our custodians are in need of a power washer for summer cleaning. Another was interested in a conference on trauma-informed schools. Please share your ideas at the link to help us prioritize our needs with the remaining budget and look to long range plans. This will also be added to the dashboard for easy access when you think of something!

-Team Meetings - Shawnda or I will by to check-in on how things are going towards reading goals, NWEA testing and conferences and answer any questions you may have. We don't plan to take much of your time though as we know it's a busy week!

-NWEA testing - Our 5th grade teams still have a day of testing this week. Then, we’ll be finishing things up with make-ups. Please pay attention to the schedule. Kudos to the many celebrations we are hearing as more students reach their goals. Don’t forget to have them add stickers to the building chart by the music room.

-Spring Intro Reading Week - Reading is a building focus and we want to really celebrate this week with our fun activities. Please encourage your students to participate in the spirit days and fun activities planned. It will culminate on Friday when your class schedules a library visit to get a FREE book for EVERY student! Thanks to our donations of several in the building and Mr. Stockton's initiative! :)

-Summative Evaluations have begun with new staff first. However, all staff will want to complete the Teacher Highlight page and then the Self-Reflection Rubric in TalentEd if you want to get started. I'll be in touch by email to schedule a time to meet with you.

-Playground update - Installation of the equipment should begin on Tuesday and take a few days. Next Monday, the 15th, our second phase of pouring the tire surface is scheduled. Fingers crossed, the project should be complete upon our return from spring break!! :) Please talk to your students about staying away from the area as they work.

-Dates to Get on Your Calendar: Week of May 3-MAP Testing, May 13-Transition Day in AM, April 23-Tentative Spring Picture Day

-Dinner for Spring Conferences - Have an idea for us to consider for our staff dinner? Let us know here.

Adult Learning Weekly Blog Spot from Mrs. Maddeaux:

Let's try something a little different for fourth quarter! There is never any trash anymore to address, so let's look at another goal of the Adult Learning Team. We also try to build well being by getting to know the people we are spending our days with. When I put together the snowpocalypse slideshow, I got an idea, but at the first big Anime Club meeting, it solidified. The kids looked around at our packed learning park and said, "I never realized so many people like what I like!" DJ Kooky Kim and TikTok Walker are pretty good at putting themselves out there, but did you know that Bartels knits? Did you know Steinbach was so handy with home repairs? We probably all know that Stockton has an encyclopedic knowledge of the latest and greatest tech, but did you know that Vest has amazing resources for basic reading intervention (she taught littles before coming to us)? We get to know our teams really well, but how well do we know the rest of our building?

We only have a few weeks left, but please fill out this Google Form and let me know about your hidden talents, or someone else's. It's often easier to mention something cool about someone else than yourself! I will get with them and try to include some videos and/or interviews to get some other perspectives and expertise out there. It can be either educational, or just interesting! Let's all synergize and discover just how much we have in common and can learn from each other!

Technology Tips for Teachers:

Have you tried Blooket yet? If you want a great review game and Kahoot and others like it have lost their appeal, give it a try! Here’s a good video explaining how it works and the different work modes:
