Adult Learning Weekly Blog Spot:
The most recent concerns in the trash can revolved around discipline and our lack of unity around understanding different levels of behavioral intervention. As I prepared to write about some tips, I learned that this was a bigger concern than just some trash can troubles. I have some resources to share, but this week, I would like to start with just a personal understanding of how you feel about behavior. We all have different levels of tolerance, which is what makes a unified front so difficult. For one person, hoods and hats are a big no no, while another might feel like it isn't worth the argument. Please take a look at this slide sort and think about where you would place each behavior on a 3 tier continuum. Then, on slide 2, think about what types of interventions you feel are necessary to address each level of behavior, as well as who should be responsible for that intervention.
When you get with your Accountability Partners this week, compare your responses and talk about how you proactively plan to address behavior in your environment. What Tier 1 supports for behavior do you have in place in your classroom?
