Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Bus driver appreciation breakfast will be Friday morning. If your class could make an appreciation poster or cards, it would be greatly appreciated! Please get them to Mr. Hayes by Thursday after school.

-Sub requests: We’ve had some issues with subs going to the wrong intermediate. To help, please add our address in the notes when you put in a request. (Address: 630 S. Miller Ave, Spfld)

-Communication: In the past, we’ve held a monthly team leader meeting which included representation from each team, specials and special services. The purpose of team leader was to keep an open line of communication and allow for dialogue about building items. With our smaller size we weren’t sure if this would still be necessary; however, it’s come up a few times that it could be beneficial and I’d like to get staff input about this here.

-Spelling Bee Literacy Night: My mom is the president of the Ozarks Literacy Council in Springfield and has offered to sponsor a team or two from WIS-South in this fun event on Thurs., Nov. 7. If anyone is interested, let me know!

-Friendsgiving: We thought it might be fun to do a Thanksgiving dinner with staff and families. Let us know your thoughts about attending here.

-Parent conferences: Please be sure you have shared a copy of your finalized schedule with Stacey, Rhonda and Teresa so that we are able to field phone calls and minimize interruptions to you.

-Star Summit: Registration information was emailed to staff on Thurs. last week. Be sure to get signed up soon to get the sessions you want. As you browse the sessions, feel free to attend the location that most fits your needs despite the grade level indications.

Leader in Me Moment:

The last few weeks, we have been focusing our own private victory with the first few habits. How are you doing living the habits? Complete the first 5 categories of this self-scoring 7 habits profile. Which habit would you like to increase your effectiveness?

Teacher Tips:

When we come up against a problem in our classroom, it is so easy to assume students know what is expected of them. However, it’s important to really look at whether or not we have been intentional in our expectations. This is a great article where one teacher realized the assumptions she was making in her classroom – a great reminder for all of us! Check out, “How My Assumes Affect My Classroom”.
