Mon. Library/Counseling Week: B week
Staff Building Feedback/Input Form for Lighthouse team: Have an idea, concern or input? We want to know! Please fill this out and it goes directly to our Lighthouse team facilitators.
Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.
WIS shared picture folder: Please add your school pictures throughout the year. We’d love to have lots to choose from for the yearbook!
Nuts and Bolts Items:
-Staff Monthly Check-in - At the end of each month, we try to send this form to check in and keep a pulse of how things are going at WIS. We would appreciate hearing your thoughts!
-Team meetings - Mrs. Muller and/or I will plan to attend team meetings this week. Please see the agenda topics and add anything your team would like to discuss also!
-Social dues - Are treats in our future?!?! We just need a few more to get their dues in by Friday to make it happen. Money can be turned in at the office. Dues are $20 for certified and $10 for non-certified. Shared staff would split their dues by paying half at each building.
-Upcoming dates to be aware of:
Read-a-thon Fundraiser - Kicks off Oct. 10-21. More details coming, but get read to pump up reading with us! Special thanks to Mrs. Farmer for leading this.
HRA - All staff must complete the Health Risk Assessment or a PCP form from their doctor in order to receive the board portion of medical insurance paid. Be sure to sign up for a time on the Sign Up Genius if you haven’t already! There is not a time at WIS this year. The closest locations are: Oct. 18 @ WSE or Oct. 19 @ WOHE.
Celebration Walk - Oct. 19 (10:15-11:15 am) - District office staff will be here to celebrate things happening at WIS and pop into a few classrooms. Please let us know if you have something planned during this time you definitely want them to see!
Fall Parties - Oct. 21 Early out day (6th Grade - 9:05-9:45 am; 5th Grade - 10:00-10:45 am)-more info coming at team meetings this week.
Trunk-or-Treat - Oct. 21 (6-7:30 pm); We will be doing this in conjunction with WOHE’s fall festival (5:00-7:30 pm). Our goal is to have at least 1 trunk from each classroom. We'll be sending parent info out this week, but please also include it in your weekly communication home too! We'd love to also have staff and club trunks too! Please fill out this form or pass it along to a group/family that is interested in participating with a trunk.
-Check-in with Pippin - I would like to schedule a 20-30 min. meeting with all certified staff (and anyone else who would like to) to discuss PD plan goals and check in. Please email me a couple times that may work for you in October and/or I will reach out to you. Thank you!
-Belonging individual WIGs - I’m not sure that we were able to get around to check scoreboards and was hearing there are a few that may have not reached their goal last week. Let’s shoot for this week to finish strong as our final week! If you met yours, BIG congrats! If not, you’ve got a few more days to make up for it. :) We’ll be starting a new building WIG soon!
-Meal train for Jessen - If you or your team are able to provide a meal there are a few spots left!
-ALICE training - We have additional guidance re: ALICE training (intruders) from the district. ALL new staff who have not done the training are asked to complete it. However, it is beneficial for all staff to do! If you are unable to register or need assistance with logging in, see email from Navigate360 on Sept. 9 or reach out to Officer Riggin.
Teaching Tip or Tool:
Classroom management can be one of the toughest parts about teaching, especially when faced with student difficulties in self-regulation. If your classroom management still isn't where you'd like it to be at this point in the year, please know you aren't alone! Also know it's important to stay persistent with your efforts. Clear is kind and this also comes to expectations and boundaries you put in place. Check out this Twitter feed I ran across recently for some great ideas from current teachers. In addition, here are a couple posts/articles you can check out:
