WIS News:

Thanks to our media leaders and Mr. Stockton for their hard work to get our first news show of the year out already:

Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.

Sept. 15-Oct. 15 is National Hispanic Heritage Month. How will you celebrate with your students?

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Emergency Drills - We will be doing our emergency drills this week. However, this will be done at the class level due to our current circumstances and need to socially distance. Please see our directions here. It is very IMPORTANT to read these carefully, discuss with your class, and practice as best as we can as the 'real thing'. You will then sign off on the time you do each here. If you have any questions, please let Stacey know!

-Seating Charts - Thanks for turning these in! In order to make this easier moving forward, Stacey has shared a team folder with classroom teachers. IF you make a change to the class seating chart on a Monday, please scan an updated copy and put in this team folder with the current date. Changes to the lunch seating chart may be done on the original copy in this same folder. If you’ve got any questions, feel free to let Stacey know. Hoping this saves a step and ensures the most up-to-date is included quickly.

-Positive communication home: It looks like a few are still working on the first positive communication home, please be sure to reach all families this week if you haven’t and update the communication log. I’m hearing these conversations have been very beneficial!

-Team meeting topics this week: Main topic-iTime planning. Also check-in re: DRA, tutoring, and handling make-up work for extended absences

-Virtual teaching/IE hours: We are looking for a teacher that might be interested in offering 5 hours week virtual general education learning to some of our special services students doing virtual right now. Compensation would be through IE hours. If you are interested in learning more, please let Stacey know.

-Staff Face Shields - I have some of the face shields with glasses for staff. These are the ones I use when presenting. Although they aren't as effective as a mask, I know there are several that would like to have a second layer of protection or to have an option at times. Let me know if you'd like one and I'm happy to get it to you!

Teaching Tip:

I have been amazed by all the many new changes staff and students are taking in stride in order to ensure everyone's safety and allow us to continue in person at school. I am so proud of how all have rallied together and thank each of you for all you are doing! As we continue to tread our way through these unprecedented times, there is no doubt we will have more worries and face new challenges. However, it's also important to keep our perspective. A great way to do this is through laughter. Hope you enjoy this 'simple' explanation of a school hybrid model...
