WIS shared picture folder: PLEASE add your pictures throughout the year to our folder. This is used for our yearbook and social media posts to tell our story!

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Spirit Wear Store: The deadline has been extended until midnight on Monday evening, Sept. 1. Hurry if you’d still like to place an order!

-McKenzie Newport - Student Update: It was confirmed at St. Jude's on Wed. that McKenzie does have squamous cell carcinoma of the vocal cords. She will be at school a couple of days this week and then return to St. Judes for a surgery on Thursday. It is likely she will need several weeks of radiation after at St. Judes, but they are still hopeful for a positive report from this 2nd surgery.

  • McKenzie and her family are already looking for ways to give back through a St. Jude walk at 8:00 am on Sept. 20 at Hammons Field.

They would love any staff or families interested in walking to attend. If you can't attend, you can also give virtually. See more information, let them know you'll attend or donate here to the team "Kick it Kenz".

-NWEA details & resources for testing this week:

-Student Positive Behavior System:

  • Staff should have all received a roll of dinosaur stickers. Hopefully you were able to pass out many last week! If you still need a roll, let us know in the office.

  • Team ROAR boards and dino eggs for your class grid will be printed and to teams this week.

  • Individual students will be able to contribute to a TEAM ROAR board when they receive 10 stickers. You will mark it off on their individual grid and let them sign a numbered square. When the TEAM ROAR board is filled, the team will earn a reward.

  • Class boards will now result in a class reward of teacher choice.

  • See more details here.

-Hats on Playground: I’ve had a few questions about students wearing hats on the playground. While it isn’t something we’re encouraging students to bring, it is ok if they wear them outside at recess as long as they don’t create issues and take them off before coming back inside.

-Clubs: We have several clubs starting in the next couple of weeks. Here is a link to our current list (on Dashboard under Daily/Weekly and on website for parents too!). We will add new ones as they are approved and get them on announcements. Permission slips can be printed from here or picked up in the commons.

-Sponsor Wanted: We have a new officer that is interested in offering a 10-week DARE course as a CLUB for our 5th graders after school during 1st semester. However, they do need a school sponsor. If you would be interested in sponsoring this group, let Stacey know and your preferred day of the week!

-Team Newsletters: It's a new month! We've received a couple team newsletters already (thank you!). Please be sure to share them with Autumn, Stacey and the office ladies when your team newsletter is complete.

 Coach’s Corner: The Hurtasaurus Report

A Strong Start to the Year!

It’s been such a joy to walk through the building and see Math, Science, and Wit & Wisdom coming to life in classrooms. The energy, focus, and intentional planning are unmistakable—I can tell how hard you've all been working to ensure everything is ready for our students.

Your dedication and preparation do not go unnoticed. Thank you for everything you do to support student success and create a strong foundation for learning. Let’s keep the momentum going!

Understanding NWEA Growth Scores

What’s the highest score on the NWEA Growth test? Student Video

  • Wondering how high a student can go? While MAP Growth doesn’t have a fixed "perfect score," there are score ranges for each grade and subject. The highest RIT scores typically fall in the mid- to upper-300s, depending on the subject area.

Is your student’s MAP Growth score “good”? Student Video

  • Great question—and the answer is more personalized than you might think. NWEA emphasizes growth over time, not just a single number. A “good” score is one that shows progress from previous tests, aligned with a student's unique learning journey.
