Mon. Library/Counseling Week: A week

STEM class location: Tech Cafe

Nuts and Bolts Items:

-Hallways: Although we don’t have many, students are quickly learning this is a place where they may be able to get away with more. Please be sure we have teacher presence outside the pods during arrival/dismissal, bathroom/drink breaks, etc.

-Get your announcements added to the Google slides to ensure it gets communicated.

-DRA testing continues this week. Teal team will be doing NWEA science test Mon.-Tues.

-Positive Postcard – Want a great way to celebrate a student accomplishment and notify parents too? This is a template you are welcome to use. Would be a great goal to send at least one a week!

-If your class leaves your team pod, please be sure to take your walkie talkie with you for communication from office (ex. recess, library, outdoor classroom).

Leader in Me Moment:

Our focus this month is on building and maintaining a personal mission statement. This week, we encourage you to look at Habit 2: Begin With the End in Mind, The Habit of Personal Vision. The Highly Effective Paradigm is clearly defining a vision and purpose for your life will make all the difference. This week think about the outcomes you’d like for your life and use them to create a Personal Mission Statement.

Here are two areas to think about while building or reassessing your Personal Mission Statement:

1. How will you know that you have:

  • Improved your health?

  • Managed a crisis well?

  • Become an effective teacher/leader?

  • Become the parent you want to be?

  • Developed a successful relationship with others?

2. Think about people who have influenced you in your life and the qualities of attributes you admire most in these people.

Record your thoughts in a notebook or journal, so you can use them to build your mission statement by the end of this month.

Teacher Tidbits:

Want some great ideas as you continue to build your class/team community? One of our building goals is to create a sense of belonging with students. Get 5 strategies in this Edutopia article, “Every Student Matters: Cultivating Belonging in the Classroom”.
