Mon. Library/Counseling Week: A week
Morning Announcements: Please add things you would like to have added to our morning announcements on the appropriate day.
WIS shared picture folder: Please add your school pictures throughout the year. We’d love to have lots to choose from for the yearbook!
Nuts and Bolts Items:
-Read-a-Thon Fundraiser - Mrs. Farmer will be sharing details with all A week classes Monday, so all students will have this information. Please encourage your students to sign up online with their parent and participate by creating opportunities during our fundraiser to READ at school. Taking a bathroom break? Bring a book! Done with assignments? Read a book! We'll also be sharing details about the WIS 40 book challenge during our fundraiser to kick it off. (More specifics coming soon to ELA teachers!) Funds raised will assist with our House of Leaders incentives (team shirts we hope!), painting games on the playground asphalt, field trips and teacher appreciation.
-Upcoming dates to make sure is on your calendar:
HRA - All staff must complete the HRA or a form from their doctor in order to receive the board portion of medical insurance paid. Be sure to sign up for a time on the Sign Up Genius if you haven’t already! The closest locations are: Oct. 18 @ WSE, Oct. 19 @ WOHE.
Celebration Walk - Oct. 19 (10:15-11:15 am)
Fall Parties - Oct. 21 (6th-9:05-9:50 am; 5th-10:00-10:45 am)
Trunk-or-Treat - Oct. 21 (6-7:30 pm) - Please sign up for a trunk here and share with our parents too! Here is a current list of trunks signed up to see if your homeroom/club has one. Also, please include the Sign Up Genius with any team communication home as a reminder!
-Student displays & work - We’ll have a lot of district guests and parents in the building the next couple of weeks. We’d love to have student work, etc. out for them to see. It’s also a good time to make sure items already hung don’t need freshened up with new tape, taken down, student locker clean-up, etc.
-PDC representative - We are still looking for a rep from our building for the district PDC. If you are interested in serving, please let Jennifer Walker know.
-Morning meet up with Stacey - This Friday, I’ll plan to be in the lounge at 7:40 am with a light breakfast treat. The goal is to create a dedicated time to help with any needs or questions you may have. If it’s helpful, I’ll make it a routine thing. ;)
-Career Ladder/Instructional Excellence Presentation - Stacey will provide more guidance during our early out meeting after school, but you can view the presentation now and bring any questions you may have. The district is planning to offer the Career Ladder option to teachers with 3+ years experience. Instructional Excellence is also still available as usual.
-Pumpkin Decorating Contest - Each class will find a pumpkin in their classroom tomorrow for our contest! :) Feel free to be as creative and student-driven as your class chooses following the linked guidelines. We'd love to have your decorated pumpkin on display in the commons by Oct. 18 for judging. Then, we hope to put them out for our trunk or treat too.
-ALICE training - Just a reminder to look at the ALICE training. If you are unable to register or need assistance with logging in, see email from Navigate360 on Sept. 9 or reach out to Officer Riggin.
-Jeans...for a week?! Yes, you heard that correctly - It is a SPECIAL WEEK indeed! We've had some hard working days and need to rest up for the last 2 weeks of October when things really pick up again, so we hope jeans this week can make it a little easier. Thanks for all YOU do at WIS. I am incredibly grateful each day to work with our team!
Teaching Tip or Tool:
Check out this great visual to help identify emotions felt within each brain state. This is a great resource I’ve already used with a few students. It comes from Dr. Lori Desautels, author of one of the best professional books I've read in a long time, Connection Over Compliance.
